ABOUT US…….WE ARE;

An organization of Florida Healthcare Auxiliaries and Volunteers
donating their time and expertise.

An organization dedicated to helping its members achieve
their potential.

An organization whose purpose is to promote, encourage and
educate its membership.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Association shall be exclusively charitable
in nature and shall be to promote the mutual exchange of ideas
for strengthening and improving the work of volunteer healthcare
organizations and to enhance the quality of healthcare throughout
the State of Florida.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to any healthcare auxiliary or organized
volunteer group whose purpose and activities complement our
purpose. Annual dues are based on licensed bed capacity( as reported to Florida  Hospital Association) inthe affiliated healthcare facility.

HISTORY

The Association of Florida Hospital Auxiliaries was organized
in 1953 serving 25 hospitals at that time. The Association
was incorporated in 1979. In November of 1996 the name was
changed to the Association of Florida Healthcare Auxiliaries/Volunteers,
Inc., to encompass all healthcare related facilities in which
volunteers give of their time. Our membership serves over
135 groups.

AS A MEMBER OF AFHAV

  • You will benefit from AFHAV Annual Meeting, featuring
    workshops, roundtables and special speakers.
  • Be invited to District Meetings which provide continuing
    education to members in each of five districts.
  • Be afforded the state-wide publication INSIDE AFHAV with
    information about membership, events and activities of our
    member groups.
  • Have an opportunity to hear about legislative issues facing
    our healthcare facilities and attend Hospital Day in the
    Legislature in Tallahassee.
  • Receive the President’s Guide containing guidelines for
    organizing and maintaining an effcient group.
  • Be invited to a leadership seminar or conference on training
    members to assume leadership roles.
  • Be invited to TAV conferences or programs of education
    and fun for youth volunteers.
  • Have access to a resource center for information, instructional
    material, ideas for new services and fund raising.
  • Be invited to Presidents’ Mini Meetings in each district
    where District Directors, Auxiliary/Volunteer Presidents,
    Presidents-Elect or VicePresidents gather to exchange ideas,
    information, new services and make plans for District Meetings.
